At My Hinterland we are passionate about trees. We love Woodland management and Coppice restoration projects, hedge laying and tree surgery.
We are NPTC City and Guilds qualified and equipped with safe modern equipment to maximise efficiency. Within our low impact forestry fleet we have both large and small alpine tractors equipped with winches, grapples and forwarding trailer capable of accessing and extracting timber from the most sensitive sites.
We are very happy to undertake site visits to discuss how we can help address your tree surgery and woodland management needs.
Tree planting and woodland creation is important to us at My Hinterland. Whether you are looking to plant single trees or memorial trees within your garden, a shelter belt, coppice or woodland on your farm we can help. We take a considered approach to tree planting ensuring we take steps to give new tree plantings the best possible chance. This includes taking steps to reduce the damage that can be caused by browsing animals.
We have experience completing projects to the specification of ‘Saving Devon’s Treescapes’ and ‘Woods for ‘Water’
Our nimble alpine tractor equipped with winch, skidding grapple or forwarding trailer is well suited to timber extraction on small and compact sites or those requiring low impact machinery. This may include sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) Planted Ancient Woodland sites (PAWS) or parkland and residential properties.
We are NPTC qualified in both small and large tree felling so can offer a complete service or can work alongside your own team or appointed tree surgeon.
We are happy to discuss your clear fell, thinning or site clearance needs.
My Hinterland are NPTC qualified and insured for ground-based felling & tree surgery. We can undertake woodland management tasks & can complete coppice restoration projects as well as taking on tree surgery works including windblown and storm damaged trees. We are equally happy to carry out hedge cutting and are ultimately flexible & available to discuss your individual needs.
All of our tree surgery work is covered by our insurance, risk assessed and carried out by competent and trained personnel.
My Hinterland are always looking to make best use of the timber arising from our work. We offer an onsite milling service that makes use of both an Alaskan style chainsaw mill and mobile bandsaw sawmill.
Do you have a particular project in mind? We are very happy to discuss this; we take great pleasure in repurposing home grown timber for your continued enjoyment. Check out our ‘Bespoke’ page for some inspiration.
Ash dieback is becoming increasingly present in Devon & Dorset.
Although some reports may lead you to think Ash Dieback is all doom and gloom it’s important that we remain optimistic. There are a number of species that depend solely on the Ash for habitat. We do however recommend interventions where public safety is a concern.
The best time to survey trees is mid to late summer before the early onset of Autumn.
Please get in touch if you have any concerns and would like to discuss management options.
My Hinterland offer a firewood service converting your timber into useable firewood. We are able to fell & extract standing timber and split to log’s onsite for home seasoning. Once spilt we recommend seasoning log’s undercover until they are below 20% moisture content.
Do you need more storage capacity? We can build short, medium and long term log stores. Why not contact us to discuss what we can offer.
We also offer local seasoned log deliveries.
